Retrieval Training
Set you and your dog up for success in retrieving, when nothing less than perfect will do.
Taking your companion out hunting with you brings even more joy than reaching your limit of birds alone.
The excitement you get from making that perfect shot will now be replaced with the extraordinary joy you feel after seeing your dog do their first ever retrieve and every single one after that. You will want to hunt more just to see your dog work rather than go for your own pleasure.
Basic Retrieval Program
2-3
Months
I will teach your dog basic obedience which includes off-leash heeling/recall, place, kennel, load up, look sharp(potty),sit and down both with implied stay.
Your pup will go through force fetch which teaches them the process of formal retrieving. At the end of this program your dog will be steady to gunfire and other dogs retrieving till they are released by name.
They will be able to do marked single and double retrieves. You will be taught how to handle the dog properly and gun safety around dogs.

All retrieves are to be brought to hand after they swing into a heel and sit.
Advanced Retrieval
5-6
Months
The Obedience program is included as well as force fetch. Your pup will be taught three handed casting, whistle sit at a distance and blind retrieval both on land and water.

This program is extremely comprehensive and nothing short of perfection will be accepted. You will be taught how to run the dog properly and how to use the whistle, e-collar and gun safety around dogs.
All retrieves are to be brought to hand after they swing into a heel and sit.
Retrievers were bred primarily to retrieve birds or other prey and return them to the hunter without damage; retrievers are distinguished in that nonslip retrieval is their primary function. As a result, retriever breeds are bred for soft mouths and a great willingness to please, learn, and obey.
A note from a happy dog owner
Devlin trained our Boykin Spaniel Addie from a 7-month-old puppy to a finished hunting dog.
To say we are pleased would be a huge understatement. Devlin’s keen dog sense and fair approach to training produced exactly what we were looking for. A dog that loves the field and is totally under control in all situations. Addie is as much Devlin’s as she is ours. He treated her like his own from start to finish. Devlin truly has the gift of dog sense. Most don’t. I can’t say enough positive things about our experience. I look forward to working with Devlin in the future and truly value our friendship.
